I'm back from Tokyooooooooooo. I had the most amazing trip abroad with my husband and I am SO grateful that our friends encouraged us to travel to Japan. It was never really on my radar but I can say with full confidence it was one of my favorite places we've ever traveled.

We are back with the 71st episode of the Ali Reti Activate A Life You Love Podcast. This weekend, I've been thinking a lot about something I kept hearing over the weekend, and that is "do you have integrity with your word?" I thought this was fascinating because it's something I began analyzing in my own life. I do really amazing in many areas of my life, and then there are areas where I say I'm going to do things and I don't do them and I wind up feeling bad. Today, I want to challenge you to identify an area of your life you keep saying you're going to commit to but you don't. This could be your fitness, your nutrition, starting that blog you want to start, whatever it may be.

I freaking LOVE this episode.This topic is SO the society we live in today. "I'm just eating this piece of cake because it's gluten/dairy/sugar/calorie free." "I'm going to eat this hamburger but no bun, so it's okay." You guys, WHO FREAKING CARES. This is why I love this interview with Alex. We discuss why you need to STOP apologizing for what you are eating. Own your decisions, own your choices and be confident in them. Those that love and support you won't need an explanation, those that do are not meant to be in your life!

This week I'm sharing my own experience with hormonal birth control. This is an episode I've wanted to do for a long time, however I wanted to wait until I'd gone off of hormonal birth control to give you the full story. 

Many women ask me on a regular basis what my experience has been on the pill, having an IUD (the Mirena) etc. Today, I'm talking openly about the ups and downs, the symptoms I experience and why I ultimately chose to go off of hormonal birth control for good.

I debated whether or not to even release this episode. In fact I almost didn't record it because I knew it wouldn't be "near perfect" quality like my other episodes. And then I reminded myself that you don't listen to this podcast for perfection, you come back time and time again because you want RAW and REAL and UNCUT episodes, and that is what this episode encapsulates entirely.

Last night I took a sunset walk after a really tough couple of days. Walking immediately changes my mood (my state to be exact) and so I knew it would be so healing and freeing for me. About 10 minutes in I broke down and had this urge to record a podcast, in the moment. I feel it's so important to write and talk about things in the moment, because often it's hard to really capture the same motion later. 

I think about you all and how you handle tough days. What you must be thinking/feeling/wondering about, and so today I share exactly what was on my heart during my walk. Breakdowns and all. And the beautiful thing? Simply by talking it through with you I felt more like myself than I had in days.

Today's episode is an interview with someone who knows all too well what it's like to get in her own way. I can relate SO much to this interview, as I have probably been the BIGGEST thing getting in my own way of accomplishing what I desire. Whether that's in relationships, my career, my health and fitness, you name it.

In today's episode, I'm talking all about my own personal experience with breakups (specifically my divorce 8 years ago) and how I coped with it. 

A dear friend who just broke off her engagement recently reached out to me asking, "how was that journey after your divorce? What did that look like? Feel like? How did you handle it?"

In today's episode, I let you know, unfiltered, the highs and the lows of what I went through and how that journey of what I refer to as my 'beautiful disaster' brought me to one of the most joyous places in my life.

Show Notes:

  1. Spend time with loved ones
  2. Soak up time with friends of the same sex
  3. Go on a deep dive of self discovery
  4. Books: Brene Brown, Building an Affair Proof Marriage, The 5 Love Languages
  5. Take time to go after your dreams. You have little obligation and responsibility right now
  6. Do all the things you love. Activities, etc and I believe you will find your person on THAT path
  7. Putting out the right energy. If you are walking around saying this is going to be hard, then it will be
  8. Find someone to talk to, relish in your feelings and don't sweep them under the rug
  9. Make a list (like a kid on christmas) of all the things you desire in your ideal partner. Does this mean they will have everything? Maybe not, but often we don't even take the time to ask ourselves what it is we truly want.
  10. Then write a list of all the things you absolutely do not want want them to be like.
  11. Now write to yourself, who do YOU need to be to allow that person to show up. You can't attract the person you desire if you aren't being true to yourself

You know that feeling of immediately getting out of bed and reacting to the world? You feel pulled in a million different directions and it seems as if you are in a total tail spin.

Enter your power hour (or 5-15 minutes), you choose. This is yours to create, be creative and find what feels best for you. It's a big day over here!!! Today's is the launch of my new business, website and the shift in this podcast. 

Over the past few months, you know I've been eluding to some changes on the horizon and I wanted to keep things a little under wraps until I had more to share with you! In today's episode, I talk about why I shifted the name of this podcast away from "Progress over Perfection" to "Activate A Life You Love." This has been stirring in my heart for a while and it' so nice to finally be able to share all the juicy details with you.
